5 Tips To Help You Enjoy And Love Having A Healthy Balanced Diet!

Enjoying a healthy balanced diet can be hard, personally, it took me a while to maintain a good healthy balanced diet and lifestyle. Here are some of my top tips for doing so:

BE PREPARED AND ORGANISED

I’m not saying you always have to meal prep and have the same meal 7 days straight, but lets be honest a little meal prep is super handy. Try to make bigger batches of whatever you’re cooking for dinner so it does you for another meal that week or so you can put the leftovers in the freezer and use it on a day you know you wont have the time to cook. If you know you have a busy day ahead or you work long hours in an office, try to make your breakfast and lunch the night before. Firstly it saves you money and secondly theres always a lot of temptation when faced with a food court or the struggle of finding something healthy, delicious and cheap when needing to grab something quick on your break.

You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t crave some sweetness every now and then

Stock up your cupboards and fridge full of healthy ingredients and snacks. All the fruit and veggies as well as the sweet treats to satisfy those cravings. You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t crave some sweetness every now and then. Make some small changes to start, instead of having a bar of chocolate in the fridge, put some bliss balls in there or some dried fruit in the cupboard. A bar of chocolate in the fridge is dangerous (especially in my fridge) because you always say you will only have one piece, but we all know that never happens. All these healthier snack options will not only leave you fuller for longer but will satisfy those cravings, even those with a sweet tooth will not have any room left for those unhealthier options.

MAKE HEALTHIER VERSIONS OF YOUR FAVOURITE DISHES THAT ARE NOT SO HEALTHY

THREE THINGS I LOVE? CARBS….ESPECIALLY PIZZA (VEGAN PIZZA), VEGAN ICE CREAM AND JUST ANYTHING SWEET and if I had my way I would live off these. I’ve finally realised that you can make delicious healthy versions of pretty much all my favourite meals and snacks, and it has been life changing! There are so many resources out there to help, trust me I’ve used them a lot in the past; you’ve got online recipes, cook books and healthy baking mixes. For the mixes, I recommend the Clean Treats Mixes or the Soulful Tribe mixes, they’re DELICIOUS!!

MAKE SURE YOU STILL SOCIALISE OVER FOOD AND DON’T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT DOING SO!

You will probably read this next paragraph whilst nodding to yourself because we have probably all been guilty of this at some point, I know I have!! You know when you go through that phase of wanting to be really healthy? We end up hibernating; we don’t go out because the restaurant options are not healthy enough, the night will involve alcohol or it will be a late night so we probably will not end up going to our class the next morning! Let’s ask ourselves this, why would we want to give up 95% of our fun and life to be maybe 5% skinnier? I for sure in 20 years time do not want to be looking back and thinking wow I wish I went out more instead of saying no to a lot of social events or spending time with my loved ones because I felt guilty about doing so. Yes we don’t always want to go out; some weekends I would take a night in over a night out 100% and if thats the case but you still want to socialise, invite your friends over for a girls night in. Cook some of your healthier recipes that you love, enjoy some good food over a glass of wine and make a night of it. The best thing i’ve found is, having your friends/family/partner enjoy your new lifestyle, support you and want to get involved. Finding that balance is hard but its definitely amazing when you do.

EAT SEASONAL FRUIT AND VEGGIES

Not only do fruit and veg taste so much better when they’re in season but they also have so many important benefits to them. With them being grown or harvested in their peak season, they provide you with a range of micronutrients that your body needs as well being cheaper to buy as they have been sourced locally. So not only are you getting the freshest and tastiest products with a range of health benefits, you’re supporting your local farmers and producers….. WIN WIN really!
